Sara is just another teenage girl waiting for her special day. When she realizes that the day has become, yes, it is time for her to get her first bra. So excited she has to share with her best friend which happens to be her Diary, a character that comes to life and has more attitude than is actually necessary but she supports her and all the good things that Sara writes about. As Sara runs downstairs to share in the joy with her family she realizes that her father is not interested, her super smart 7 year old brother is annoying as hell, but her mother is rightfully excited that it's time to go shopping for the first bra and of course her mom had to bring her grandmother (GranGran) along for the ride. With pure comedy a series of experiences happen throughout as Sarah, her mom, her grandmother, her best friend Nikki, and her Diary all make their way to the mall for the annual bra sale. Everyone splits off in different directions to go to different places her grandmother is looking for lace, Nikki is looking to spend a lot of her father's money, and Sara stays with her mother in hopes of having a great experience. While there are struggles along the way Sara walks out with more than she thought she was going to get. She now realizes how important and special the women in her life are, and especially recognizing how amazing her mother is for giving her this special today.

  • (Scene opens with SARA, fourteen, stands in front of a mirror posing “sexy” which is really a hot mess. She “works” all her angles then realizes that her boobs are… there. After a few very deep breaths that evolve into panting she jumps on her bed, grabs her DIARY, that has the attitude of a no-nonsense auntie, is very active in her imagination. She writes.)

Sara: Dear Diary, it has happened. I am… I have become…

Diary: Girl what do you want? (Sara is happy to see her) What are you talking about and why are we having this conversation so late on a school night?

Sara: I knew you would come, okay so look. (she poses again, Diary is so unimpressed, yawns, Sara strikes final pose as Diary squints to see this evolution.) See em?

Diary: If you look just right-

Sara: In the right light- (Sara distorts herself with every comment, she knows it’s true)

Diary: And you angle away from the night light-

Sara: And out of the shadow-

Diary: (claps) Yep, I see em. I clearly see two little humps that have decided now is the time to drive me absolutely damn crazy.

Sara: Diary! I would never write that.

Diary: You created me in your head. In your head you say ass, hell you cuss all the damn time!

Sara: Hell, ass and damn in one sentence, I’m going to recreate you. (shakes her off) But for now, I’m telling mom in the morning that I-

    Diary: We.

Sara: I’m not taking you with me Negative Nancy.

Diary: I’m definitely not a Nancy but continue.

Sara: I’m telling her tomorrow at breakfast that we are going… (aside to Diary, like a cheerleader) say it with me. (after some coercing Diary gets up and participates. Sara clears her throat) We are going…..

Sara/ Diary: Bra shopping!!!!! (pure celebration)
